The Process
Accessing the whole body in movement I look for the directions of restriction and ‘give’ (excess movement) in the system, where joints lose their stability as a result of poorly balanced muscles e.g. pelvis to spine as in ‘core stability’.Together we consciously re-educate the brain to muscle neural pathways, over riding habitual patterns. We will use a mix of instruction, imagery, therapeutic touch or deeper tissue release to achieve a more coordinated use of unstable areas in a pain free manner.
The exercises are tailored to your individual need and a short programme can be created for your practise at home.
Effects of poor movement habits
Habits often form as a result of injury, illness, stress or work related posture.
Within a matter of weeks unstable joints can affect the whole body.
We can be totally unaware for years of the growing imbalance until a sudden movement causes an acute response, rapid muscle contraction pulling joints out of alignment sometimes with breath taking pain e.g. a ‘slipped disc’.
Effects of muscle spasms
Repeated spasms cause tiny tears, micro scar tissue within the muscle fibres which increases its sensitivity and shortens the muscle further inhibiting its function. At this stage things can become more deep seated and chronic and will take longer to resolve.
